Developing the production processes of Fe-Si alloy for Egyptian Ferro Alloys Company to be able to compete in the local and international markets PDF Print Email

Both Eng. Mohamed Elsaadawy (Chairman of Egyptian Ferro Alloys Company, EFACO) and Mr. Nabil Sharaby-the Head of Commercial and Economical sectors have visited CMRDI to discuss how can CMRDI develop the production processes in order to face the gradual increase in production cost, electricity cost and also the ability to compete with the others. The production rate of EFACO from Fe-Si alloy is estimated to be 50000 tons/year. It is already produced from Egyptian raw materials , however, production of Fe-Si needs high amount of electricity which estimated to be 10000 KW/ton. It is known that the electricity price goes up each year, this means the production cost of Fe-Si will be also increased depending on the electricity price. Therefore, the competence chance for selling such alloy will decrease annually either in the local or international market. Therefore, Chairman Mohamed Elsaadawy (EFACO) asked CMRDI during his visit to develop the production processes of Fe-Si alloy at EFACO to face the problem comes from increasing the electricity cost in order to be able to compete well with others. CMRDI is busy now for preparing a protocol depending on the experience gained in that field and the scientific knowledge of the scientists for developing the production processes of Fe-Si alloy at FEACO.
