The  Department aims for cooperative research for better development of pyrometallurgical processing of minerals and secondary resources.

Mission

The Department is actively involved in scientific research, providing technical services to various industrial needs, solving industrial problems as well as developing new technologies or products for commercial investment.

 The research activities are broadly categorized as :

  • Non-Ferrous metal extraction from the primary and secondary resources
  • Ferrous metal extraction; Iron making research with emphasis on low grade, processing wastes, thermo-chemical simulation studies.
