Within the framework of the state’s strategy to integrate scientific research with the various industrial sectors in accordance with the vision of the political leadership 2030. And through the center’s mission to contribute to increasing the rate of economic growth by raising the competitiveness of national products, as the regional national center specialized in research and development of materials. A delegation from the Egyptian Black Sand Company, comprising General Eng. Tarek Al-Ashry, General Eng. Tarek Al-Sabahi and Ms. Heba El-Gammal, visited CMRDI to discuss ways of joint cooperation between CMRDI and the company in the field of scientific studies and necessary consultations for black sand factories.
During that visit, it was agreed that the CMRDI's experts would participate in raising the added value of rutile and ilmenite ores extracted from black sand, with a study of the possibility of producing titanium alloys from rutile ores, and studying the treatment and purification of zircon ores so that they are suitable for the manufacture of ceramics, insulators, porcelain and prosthetic teeth, and studying the exploitation of rutile and ilmenite in manufacturing of welding rods, which provides a great economic return for the company. As well as the use of the expertise and capabilities of the center in the processes of analysis and quality control of the produced raw materials, as well as the possibility of seeking the assistance of the center's experts to follow up the construction and installation operations in the company's industrial units, as well as providing the necessary spare parts. At the end of the visit, the delegation expressed its happiness with the visit. The delegation also impressed with the huge capabilities of CMRDI and the pilot plants and the research projects related to the industry, and it was agreed to set a date for a new visit headed by Major General Staff Harb Ezzedine Saleh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company to establish a cooperation protocol between the two sides.
