  • The mission of Steel Technology Laboratory is to enhance the competitiveness of the Egyptian steel and ferroalloys industries and the welfare of the society through technological development and technology transfer.

    • Ultra light weight steel foam
    • New grades of steel shots and steel grits

    • Mechanical properties relationships in steels
    • Electroslag  refining of steels
    • Determination of ferrous oxide activity in multi- component slags
    • Demanganization of high manganese pig iron
    • Improving the cleanliness of steels by ESR
    • Non metallic inclusions in steels
    • Recycling of mill scale waste
    • Recycling of iron and steel slags
    • Recycling of high speed tool steel scrap by ESR
    • Water cooling of walls and roof in EAF

  • Carry out industrial projects in the field of steel and ferroalloys production,    quality control, improvement of final product, transfer of new technologies, utilization of Egyptian ores and local possibilities, development of production aggregates.
  • Supervision M.Sc and PhD theses submitted to different facilities at different universities.
  • Carry out training programmes for engineers and specialists in steel and ferroalloys companies
  • Carry out training programmes for students of faculties of science and engineering.
