CMRDI organized a training program on “Mineral Processing Technology” in the period 14-25 June 2009. This intensive training program aims to present a comprehensive course for the science and technology of minerals evaluation; beneficiation (upgrading) and processing of concentrates using the different routes (such as chemical, electrochemical and pyro-metallurgical) that can help in maximizing the benefits of the huge reserves of minerals in Egypt.

By the end of this training period, the participants are expected to be able to:

• Evaluate ores and minerals with different recent techniques of characterization.

• Beneficiate and upgrade ores and minerals with both conventional and recent technologies of physical separation. 

• Apply the different routes of chemical processing to produce value-added products from minerals.

• Calculate mass-balance and energy-balance as well as developing flowsheets for treating minerals.
• 
Comply the beneficiation and chemical processing impacts with the environmental regulations.   

• Be familiar with the economic impact of upgrading and chemical processing of minerals to produce value-added products.
