CMRDI is the permanent Nanotechnology Focal Point of Arab Scientific Councils
Under the umbrella of the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils, the Central Metallurgical Research and Development Institute (CMRDI) hosted the first meeting of the Association of Arab countries on nanotechnology on 8/6/2009. The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Mubarak Mohamed Ali Majzoub – Secretary General of the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils and Eng. Saleh Musa Al Jaghdaf Director of the Regional Bureau in Cairo of the Arab Industrial Development and Mining Organization. The meeting is also attended by representatives of seven Arab countries including Egypt, Jordan, Sudan, Qatar, Bahrain, Palestine and Morocco. Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Ibrahim Nasr - President of CMRDI presented during the meeting, a review of the activities of CMRDI in general, then Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Ahmed Ibrahim - Vice-President of CMRDI, and attendees of Egypt made presentations on the activities of nanotechnology in Egypt in general as well as in CMRDI and their institutions in particular. The Arab delegations made presentations of the activities of nanotechnology in their countries and the initiatives taken in this regard, individual and collective. The attendees recommended the need to encourage institutions working in nanotechnology in other Arab countries to join the Association, establishment of website for the association, exchanging activities, visits and nanotechnology events, giving more attention to common research work and human resource development and organizing an international conference to present the nanotechnology activities in the Arab countries.
