Training program in Hardening-Tempering of Spare Parts For United Industries Company (ELSEWEDY CABLES) PDF Print Email

Spare parts are considered as an important element in the production process. Effective and precise spare parts is leading to increase production quality and consequently, strong competition in the local and global market.
In cables industries the spare parts that used in fused polymers (PVC) extrusion are subjected to both mechanical erosion due to pressurizing the fused polymers and thermal fatigue due to long time passing of high temperature fused PVC. This issue has a negative effect on the quality of cables insulation.
Consequently, Professor Taher El-Bitar, head of metals technology department, proposed a training program for a selective group of engineers, who are responsible for processing of PVC spare parts. The training program is in the field of Hardening-tempering as a first phase, followed by constructing a heat treatment unite to serve not only the PVC spare parts but also for heat treatment process for the whole ELSWEDEY CABLES group.
The training program was dealing with the theoretical bases of heat treatment process as well as practical training to achieve hardening and tempering processes for different carbon content steel samples. Hardness, metallographic preparations and microstructural investigation are as included in the training program.
The program took place at the company and on CMRDI heat treatment unit and plastic deformation laboratory. Training started on 31st July and ended on 25th August 2011.
