Electrodeposition of Strontium -Incorporated Hydroxyapatite Coatings on Titanium Implant PDF Print Email

A joint project through French- Egyptian Imenhotep program between CMRDI and University of Reims Champagne, Ardenne,  France was recently approved.  Prof. Dr El-Sayed Ali Abdel-Aal, CMRDI is the principle investigator from Egypt whereas Prof. Dr H. Benhayoune, is the principle investigator from France.
The Project started on April 2011 for two years. It aims at coating of Titanium alloy with Hydroxyapatite for medical applications. Strontium will be introduced to the coating in order to improve coating properties as well accelerate bone growth rate.
Strontium incorporated hydroxyapatite (Sr-HA) will be electrodeposited on titanium implant. Sr-HA has good biocompatibility besides it can develop an intimate and sustainable mechanically contiguous interface between the implant and the surrounding bone tissue.
