Activities:
- Providing a well-rounded research and development in refractories and ceramics sciences and engineering to meet the needs of industry, academia and government; to give definition to the expanding discipline; to conduct research at the frontier of the field; to improve the competitiveness of the clients by improving their materials, process and products, and to provide an integrating and leadership role to the broad multi-disciplinary materials community. It also will train the future industrial and academic leaders in ceramic engineering by providing a comprehensive, forward-looking and broad-based curriculum, which emphasizes fundamental principles, practical applications, oral and written communication skills, and professional practice and ethics. This mission can be summarized into general goals as follows:-
- Research and development of refractories and ceramic
- Improvement of the performance of lab staff in this field3-Prepartion of industrial course to offer for refractory and ceramic industry
- Establishment of refractory and ceramic data base
- Eduction of the staff to be more specified in their research
- Improvement of the competitiveness of the clients
- Helding of workshops for the clients of this field
- Establishment of Egyptian ceramic society
- Contribution in refractories and ceramics standards
- Offering of service and consultation in refractory and ceramic fields
- Refractory and ceramic materials laboratory is doing research in the area of advanced ceramic materials and refractory materials. This comes through publication of articles, performing national and international projects. In addition training programs on advanced ceramics and refractories and its applications are being given to students, engineers and scientists that are working in this or relevant field.
